The Ghana Association for Medical Aid (GAMA) extends its deepest sympathies to all families and communities affected by the devastating floods that struck parts of Ghana on June 29, 2026.
As we mourn the tragic loss of lives and the destruction of homes and livelihoods, we also recognize the urgent public health challenges that often follow such disasters. Floodwaters increase the risk of waterborne diseases, vector-borne illnesses, environmental contamination, and significant mental health burdens among survivors.
GAMA believes that responding to this crisis requires a coordinated national effort involving government agencies, healthcare professionals, faith-based organizations, civil society, businesses, and individual citizens.
We therefore launch #GHOperationReachOutAndTouch, an appeal to mobilize resources for emergency relief, including food, potable water, medical supplies, hygiene kits, psychosocial support, and healthcare services for affected communities.
We also encourage continued coordination with national disaster management authorities to ensure that relief reaches the communities with the greatest need efficiently and transparently.
This tragedy reminds us that resilience is built through unity. As healthcare professionals, we remain committed to serving humanity and standing with every family affected by this disaster.
